Toyota Corolla (2014)

MuradishCars | Toyota Corolla (2014) | The carmaker has now unveiled its new Australian-market Corolla sedan, mere hours since the US market's version debuted in California. And, as expected, the new 11th-generation model we'll see in Australia early next year will wear a design shared with European markets, separate to the model destined for America. While much of the new Corolla's body is identical to the US version.

The Australian and European Corolla gets a larger headlight and grille design, a different front bumper and larger tail-lights. In this way, the new sedan adopts the same sharp new lines and tight angles worn by its hatch sibling, along with the new Camry and RAV4 models. Toyota is quick to point out, however, that both versions of the new Corolla share characteristics drawn from the Furia concept.

Shown in Detroit earlier this year. Technical details for the Australia-bound sedan are still to be revealed, but there's little secrecy here: expect the same 103kW 1.8 litre petrol engine that drives the hatch, along with six-speed manual and CVT automatic transmission. The new Corolla Sedan is due to go on sale in Australia in the first half of 2014, with specific timing and specifications to be confirmed closer to the launch date.
